UL60065 is simply the latest edition of the standard and supercedes UL6500. You should use UL60065.
Regards Chris Colgan From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]]On Behalf Of Scott Douglas Sent: 13 May 2004 02:42 To: Emc-Pstc Subject: What Difference UL 6500 or UL 60065 Fellow List Persons, I have a curiosity. Here are two UL standards: UL 6500 - Audio/Video and Musical Instrument Apparatus for Household, Commercial, and Similar General Use UL 60065 - Audio, Video and Similar Electronic Apparatus - Safety Requirements I have read the scopes of both on the UL web site (found here: http://ulstandardsinfonet.ul.com/scopes/ ) If a company makes products to be shipped world wide (meaning EN 60065), then why would they use UL 6500 for the USA? Would it not make more sense to use UL 60065? Or to put it another way, what is the real difference between the two? The title of UL 6500 includes household, commercial and similar use whereas the title of UL 60065 does not. On the other hand, the scope of UL 6500 does not include commercial or professional apparatus whereas UL 60065 does. So I ask again, which one to use when? Thanks for your comments.
