Folks, Can anyone please help!!! I have been ask to investigate what applicable Safety Standards or regulation would be relevant for CE marking electrified Attachi and suit cases . The modes of operation for the brief case are as follows:- 1. Sizes:- These are from briefcase to medium sized trolley suitcase; all have identical operation via a micro-controller. 2. Operation:- The cases on activation, would initially sound an alarm siren, followed by inducing an electric shock in the event of theft. The audible alarm can produce about 110 dB at 1 metre distance. The electrical shock circuit produces about 30kV distributed over the case conductive surfaces. The energy available per discharge is proximally 150 mJ and there are about four discharges per second.
There are two modes of activation:- Unattended, whereby a motion sensor sets off the alarm, or by remote activation, whereby the alarm function is set off by a radio signal from a key fob transmitter. The alarm sequence is the same for both modes; when set off, the siren is activated for a period of 4 seconds before the shock circuit becomes active. The alarm state is continuously triggered by the motion sensor and remains active for approximately 15 seconds after the last movement is detected. The alarm can be remotely activated or deactivated by the key fob from a distance. The case is intended to prevent anybody stealing it. So should a anybody grab the handle of the case, they could receive an electrical discharge that will stun and cause him to drop it immediately. I am not sure what regulations apply. My first reaction is that this product is unlikely to qualify for sale to the general public but on investigation I discovered that it is actually on sale in Europe. so far my effort to identify the product manufacturer has failed.
