If you accept the premises that XP evolved from W2K and it takes Bill an awfully long time to get it right, then why would you go for the older? W2K drivers seem to work well under XP. Seems like a no brainier. Re; PCs. If you want simple machines that do not have a lot of expansion slots, I have found E-Machines to be a good buy. Otherwise I like HP.
