I would suspect any filter rejecting an original request would also reject the replies containing the original since they would trigger the same filter. Your best troubleshooting aid may be to see if you can get a transmission log for the IEEE site. Check with the list supporters or I could try to generate one from a receiver's viewpoint. On most systems, you can test your own filters by sending mail to yourself. I have a system which seems to work pretty well. 1. Antivirus (Norton) 2. Firewall (Zonealarm) 3, Spyware ((Spybot) 4. Mail filter (Mailwasher) 5. Judicious care with attachments. The ISP marks suspicious mail for me but does not tamper with it. The antivirus and firewall block or quarantine known viruses. The mail filter passes all mail from identified friends and holds all others for review. The reviewer shows the header and first few text lines and allows marking for pass or delete before downloading the entire message. That means I can screen 100% of my mail very quickly. There have been periods I got only 50-75% of the messages. For last 6 months approx the situation seems rather stable and i get most of the messages. Still now and then a message is getting lost, easy to recover, because most answers on a message include the original question (good habit, opposite to the advice from most list moderators not to include that). Of course, some threads may be completely missing and I will not notice. A few time my own messages did not make it for no specific reason. Re submitting always solved the problem..... Several causes may exist why you won't receive any messages - providers spam filters may trigger on specific words ( like xxx and $$$ and others) - your companies spam filter may trigger on those words - your private spamfilter may trigger on those words (may I recommend mailwasher?) - 9/11 definiteley has lead to intensive e-mail scanning by authorities (as a by-product some messages may not make it) Do not forget that the topic of our discussions may contain sensitive information and EM ter-rorism has potentials beyond our nightmares. Some of the subcribers to our list work in sensitive industries. Probably some of the subscribers to this list live in countries that get extra attention. - The IEEE server or anything beyond may well selective filtering meassages based on combinations of topic, destination and sender, with our without our/their knowledge. - We all know that there need not be any specific logic in why, when or how.
