Our presentation will be:
"A Model of Electrically Caused Fire"
by Gary Tornquist, Hewlett-Packard Company.
A thermo-electric model for ignition and spread of
fire in electronic circuits has been developed by
Hewlett-Packard's Consumer Imaging and Printing
safety organization and presented to the TC108
Joint Working Group. From the model, practical
safeguards to prevent ignition and the spread of
fire are discussed.
Bio of Gary Tornquist
A Safety/Electrical Engineer at Hewlett-Packard Co.'s
printer division in San Diego, Mr. Tornquist's
education features a BS Engineering with honors from
Caltech, and an MS EE from UCLA. In his 20+ years at
both large and small companies as an electrical
engineer, manager, and director of engineering, he
has a broad range of experience including power
supplies, data acquisition systems, telecommunications,
and regulatory certifications.
