Earlier this year we bought Werlatone model C5086, rated 250 watts, for
conducted RF immunity.
Physical size and price are not significantly higher than the lower-rated
model.
We ported FWD power -40dB to a Boonton RF power meter for convenient
observation.
The combination works very well;  insertion loss was negligible but we
re-ran the cal routine anyway.

Werlatone directional couplers are based on a transformer design, with a
whopping big block of ferrite used as the sensing element. Unlike wall-style
directional couplers, one thing you must NEVER do is exceed the power rating
of the coupler. Even a short-term overload can change the nature of the
ferrite, and there goes your calibration. Not that I'm complaining about
Werlatone; used within their ratings, they last forever.

BTW, urban legend has it that the name comes from the founder's name;
something like Werla or Werlat.

                It is Werlatone, Brewster NY. they make a directional
coupler that covers 10 kHz to 1000 MHz in a single unit which is very useful
for EMC test set ups. We have two that are rather old now and have given
very good service. They appear to supply more to the OEM market for
incorporation into other equipment.
