JW Looks like you're correct about what BSI do/do not certify now!
Things change - but that does'nt surprise me because, although BSI did a lot of ITE 60950 testing at one time, it did not appear to do much actual product certification whilst I was working there in the mid 1990's (problem with most ITE is that the equipment changes before the certification is complete. Therefore whilst UL/CSA etc had ways around that, it was my opinion that BSI could not get its act together to do it quickly enough to be attractive to customers) Anyway, this page will take you to the part of the website which leads to the current certification activities http://www.bsi-global.com/index.xalter Regards John Allen -----Original Message----- From: John Woodgate [ mailto:[email protected]] Sent: 01 December 2004 07:11 To: [email protected] Subject: Re: BSI Safety Approval for AC power cables. I don't think so: this would be a throwback to the old days. BSI will test your ITE and give (well, sell) you a test report, but it won't 'certify' or 'approve'. -- Regards, John Woodgate, OOO - Own Opinions Only. The good news is that nothing is compulsory. The bad news is that everything is prohibited. http://www.jmwa.demon.co.uk Also see http://www.isce.org.uk ---------------------------------------------------------------- This message is from the IEEE Product Safety Engineering Society emc-pstc discussion list.
