Richard BSI (British Standards Instutution) is one of the UK certification bodies under various EU Directives - as such they certify a wide range of products to a vast range of EN and BS (UK standards).
Therefore, in respect of cables, it will depend on the specific standard for the type of cable in question. If this is flexible power cord then the standard will probably be BS 6500, but even in this standard there are a number of EU Harmonized Cables (which will also be marked with the "HAR" diamond marking) as defined in CENELEC Harmonization Documents HD 21 and HD 22. However, there are also a number of unique UK national cable types which will thus not carry the HAR marking, and are intended for UK national application only - as well as "Tri-Rated cables" which are generally also suitable for US/Canadian applications for machinery wiring (and thus also carry UL Listing and CSA Certification). Therefore one needs to know the cable/cord type in quesation in order to ascertain the specific standard in question. BSI does also certify equipment to various standards including EN 60950.
