Subject: Lithium Batteries

All,

One of my colleagues has heard some information regarding Lithium
batteries; and I'm trying to see if there is any truth to it.

I've always known that Lithium batteries needed to be marked with
various warnings that they contained Lithium. We also put certain
warnings in the manual as required by EN 61010-1.

However, what my colleague has heard is that we now need to start
marking our product itself with Lithium battery warnings in the form of
some kind of label. This would be in addition to the warnings on the
batteries themselves. According to his information, the requirement
kicks in if the total Lithium content is over 8 grams; and the
requirement has to do with some transportation laws (United States
DOT???)

Can anybody shed some more light on the validity of this information?

Thanks and happy end of December (that shouldn't offend any religions J)
