I have an electronic copy of 417 (which anyone can 
buy from the IEC web site).  I acquired this before 
you could subscribe to the 417 web site.

As with the printed copy, the symbols are on a grid.
So, you can't really apply the symbols directly from
417; instead, you must re-create the symbol in your
own favorite drawing package.
