Seems to me a commercial rather than technical issue... I can see the lawsuit
now: UL sues IEEE list server for deformation of character; IEEE sues posters
for causing lawsuit; posters sue ETL for starting it; ETL sues....

Subject: RE: ETL vs. UL

All,

I know that most of the "general" population is aware of the UL mark applied
to almost all appliances, equipment, etc, and that UL is the accepted safety
marked to have on a company's product, at least here in the USA .

However, because of UL's reduction in staff ( which is causing huge delays in
getting service ), and because of some of their harsh treatment of "their
clients" , I am sure a number of UL's "past clients" have successfully found
alternative safety labs to submit their products to.

I am investigation alternative safety labs ,ETL is a lab that keeps popping up
as an alternative to UL.

Would anyone please offer me any pros or cons in dealing with ETL ( I already
know the Pros and Cons of UL ) ?

Also , if you would or could inform me of the "level of acceptance" throughout
the country that ETL has, I would also appreciated that information. I am
already very much aware of the "broad based" acceptance of UL as "THE SAFETY
INSTUTION" to go to.

Regards,
Reg Henry
