I recently had the need to take some portable test gear into a secure area to
do some testing. Since I wanted to be able to bring my equipment back out
again (and not make a free gift of my analyzers and scope), I had to
demonstrate (to the frowning security guys) that all internal memories had
been cleared of any possible classified information.

This requires a "manufacturer warranted recommended secure erasure" procedure.
Whew, fortunately, HP / Agilent had just what I needed (although it was
difficult to find) at

http://wireless.agilent.com/aerospace/index.aspx

I suppose other manufacturers have similar security compliance procedure
statements at their sites.
