Gentlemen, I have in front of me a copy of Israel Standard SI 32 Part 1.1 (dated January 2005) "Plugs and Socket-Outlets for Households and Similar Purposes: Plugs and Socket-Outlets for Single Phase up to 16A - General Requirements".
At the end of the first section appears this paragraph: After 6 months from the publication of this revision, plugs with flat pins (see Fig 209 in the Standard) shall no longer be in compliance with the requirements of the Standard. Flat pins shall be permitted in the future on special purpose plugs only, in compliance with Fig. 216. In essence what appears to be happening is the current flat pin plug we have used for product going to Israel is being replaced by a plug with round 4.4 mm diameter pins on the same pin centers as todays flat pin plug. The drawings of the socket-outlets in the standard make it obvious that some of the outlets have been designed to accept both the new round pins and the old flat pins. Does anyone have any further information on implementation dates or transition periods associated with this change? I am getting conflicting information form my power cord suppliers and am looking for more concise information. The date of the standard and the note above would imply the implementation date is intended to be July 2005. Is this correct? Gregory H.
