The New EMC Directive and Guidelines. John Woodgate.
John Woodgate was awarded the Bachelor of Science (Engineering) degree of
London University in 1958, and became an independent consultant in 1984. He is
a Chartered Engineer, a Member of the Institution of Electrical Engineers, a
Fellow of the Audio Engineering Society and a Fellow of the Institute of Sound
and Communication Engineers. Mr. Woodgate has more than 25 years experience of
British and international standards committee work. He is at present Chairman
of three British Standards committees and a member of many BSI and IEC
committees. He has made major contributions to several important international
standards.
The new EMC Directive has been published; it is usable by manufacturers, by
choice, when the UK version has been published (which could legally be as late
as January 2007!) and will become mandatory in July 2007 (or so it says!). It
has numerous language defects and obscurities, but it cannot now be changed.
However, the guidance document is open to public comment until JUNE 30th, and
some, at least, of the problems with the Directive may be soluble by including
suitable words in the guide.

This is an open meeting - All welcome. If you plan to attend this event you
need to register by informing: Roy Ediss.
