It's true that one should never underestimate human stupidity. As I understand it, he RoHS applies at component level (whether it should or not[1]), so you would have to provide such data for *every part*, not the product as a whole. When confronted by an unreasonable demand, there are two things you can do: 1. Ask the customer how, on the basis of their experience of having the demand satisfied by others, they think *you* should satisfy their demand. You may find that they accept a wholly inadequate solution. 2. Explain the difficulty of satisfying their demand and quote USD1 million or so for doing so. > >Two stupid questions: > >1. [1] As I understand it, a few micrograms of lead in one small component, exceeding the permitted limit, renders a complete product, may be 100 kilogram, non-compliant.
