Doug:

Article 10(1) of the EMC Directive http
//europa.eu.int/comm/enterprise/electr_equipment/emc/directiv/text.htm has
this statement:

"Member States shall take the necessary measures to prohibit the affixing to
apparatus, its packaging, the instructions for use and the guarantee
certificate of markings which are likely to deceive third parties as to the
meaning and form of the CE marking. Any other marking may be affixed to the
apparatus, its packaging, the instructions for use or the guarantee
certificate provided that the visibility and legibility of the CE marking is
not thereby reduced. " [3] <http://euro
a.eu.int/comm/enterprise/electr_equipment/emc/directiv/amend.htm> "

This statement, or others like it, were added to all of the affected
Directives in force by the CE Marking Directive
http://europa.eu.int/comm/enterprise/el
ctr_equipment/emc/directiv/amend93-68.htm

This has been carried on since then, as evidenced by Article 8 of the "New
EMC" Directive. http://europa.eu.int/co
m/enterprise/electr_equipment/emc/directiv/text2004_108.htm

I hope this has been of some help

Subject: CE Mark disambiguation

Greetings all,

I recall a statement in one of the directives (EMC, LVD, Machinery, General
Product Safety, or Liability) saying that emulating the CE mark in any way is
not lawful. Is there anyone in this forum who can point me to this clause.

thank you, -doug
