Derek,

As long as you are not looking for a programmable supply that will do the
actual transients for you, I would go with an unregulated stiff supply, so
that when you inject transients and ripple, the supply doesn't fight you.
Make sure ripple is low enough you don't need to provide external filtering,
those filters can hurt you at voice frequencies which are in band to power
quality transient spectral content. You want to be able to vary the dc output
over the entire range of -704/DO-160 steady state levels. Such variation
might be obtained with an auto transformer on the unregulated power supply's
ac input if not available internally.

Subject: dc supply for performing MIL STD 704E power input tests

HI Folks,

I'm looking for a dc power supply for performing MIL STD 704 and DO-160 power
input tests. Does anyone have opinions on what would make a good choice?

I believe a current draw up to 25 amps would cover most things I need to do.

Thoughts on and off-line are welcome.
