Group, I think this goes back to the original question and offering, in that with progress today and the old hard documents are now becoming soft(copy)information, shouldnt it be easier and less costly to aquire it via the PC. Much less labor involved and more factors I am sure as well. Is there an organization to join to get a multidude of standards at a much lower cost? The ETSI site is very good, its free, and free is good but it isn't everything either.
Can one purchase a standard for one price and distribute to others at a cost, lower obviously since he would be selling many to recoup his/her initial investment. Or is that a copyright/legal situation? I also would like to pay a lower cost via soft media transmission. I guess I am thinking for example, Columbia/BMC for music discs, they buy at some price and intend to sell to others for much less per copy than what they paid the Recording Companies. regards Richard, From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]]On Behalf Of Anchondo, Dan Sent: Tuesday, January 10, 2006 12:50 PM To: [email protected] Subject: RE: Making Standards Free All I would like a standard to be free but as with any other profession you have to pay for your tools. Ill be shopping for antennas and spectrum analyzers in the near future and I don't expect to get them for free so standards are just another cost of doing business. I think the trend to 'open government' and 'freedom of information' makes it less likely to happen in the future. All national and international standards are, of course, available for purchase, and I know of no case where a standard is 'priced beyond reach'. -- OOO - Own Opinions Only.
