Observation: The overlap in 60950-1 requirements covers the performance of battery circuitry often included in battery packs along with relationships between the battery and end use product...2054 does not quite cover those areas. There are also IEC standards that exist addressing both primary and secondary batteries..I believe IEC 62133 along with 61960 Ed. 1, and 61959-1 and -2, might be worth examining also. Packs should be tested to UL 2054. If the pack employs lithium based cells that do not have UL 1642 Recognition, you will have to meet those requirements as well. Although many manufacturers request UL 60950-1, it really does not have any worthwhile battery tests and actually requires batteries to meet UL 2054 in Annex P.1. These batteries can either be user replaceable or non-replaceable. These batteries are being charged when the players is connected either to PC USB port or mains AC/DC power adaptors. Which UL standard that it must conform to? UL 2054 or UL60950? What are the common test and difference test called by both standards? Like to know of the general test called by each standard before we proceed to purchase the UL2054 std. If testing just to UL60950, is it sufficient? Can we still assume product is still safe.
