Well, it's that time of the month and I have been setting up experiments and clicking the keys again to come up with my latest article.
An apparently small inconsequential design change on a piece of equipment can make a significant difference to equipment performance. This month's Technical Tidbit discusses the specific example of simply adding small insulating rubber feet to an enclosure. Abstract: Small changes in the physical design of a product can have a large impact on ESD performance both in the lab and field. Data is presented for the case of a small switch box charged to 250 Volts showing the effect of small insulating rubber feet. The results show that seemingly inconsequential differences in physical design can have a major impact on equipment operation in the field.
