1) SASO approval is not required; however, all equipment entering Saudi Arabia
need a CoC (Certificate of Compliance) and a Pre-Shipment Inspection. A CoC is
required for each shipment made into Saudi Arabia.
New Regulations applied in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia
1. Saudi Arabia cancels the monopoly of the ICCP program to satisfy
compliance with WTO regulations after Ministerial Decisions No.213 & No. 6386.
2. Now, all items exported to Saudi Arabia are subject to mandatory
certification
3. Conformity Certificate must be issued before entering the country
by an accredited entity, like TUV Rheinland to declare compliance
4. Random samples may be taken by Saudi officials at the Kingdom¡¯s
ports to make sure of validity of the certificate
5. If the inspected items and Certificates do not conform they will
be rejected by the Saudi Customs
6. For telecom and radiocom equipment a CITC (Communications and
Information Technology) license is required.
2)The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is not part of the IEC CB Scheme and therefore
no deviations in the CB Test Reports. However the Kingdom has unique
deviations:
Local technical and non-technical requirements covered by laws and SASO
standards request compliance with
¡¤ Local climate conditions
¡¤ Electrical supply system
¡¤ Arabic marking requirements
Rated voltage in Saudi Arabia is AC 127V or 220V / 60Hz. Ambient temperature
must be tested according to SASO 1062 (corresponding to 60335) for tropical
climates (45degC).
SASO has limited the acceptable voltage marking range for
¡¤ 127V to 120V(lower limit) - 134V(upper limit) and
¡¤ 220V to 209V(lower limit) - 231V(upper limit)
All plugs whether shipped separately or supplied with, or fitted to appliances
exported to Saudi Arabian must comply with the Standard
¡¤ SASO 2204 for supply voltage of 127 V or
¡¤ SASO 2203 for supply voltage of 220V;
For the Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) only EMI testing is required for
certain groups of electrical products.
