Wayne, Any reputable lab that performs NEBS testing, and all labs approved to do NEBS testing for Verizon, are posted at www.verizonnebs.com. Be aware that Verizon has not approved all the labs listed to do all of GR-1089 or GR-63. Some have limited scopes and some occasionally get suspended and as a result Verizon will not accept the test data. The website provides current details on lab accreditation and scope.
AT&T accepts testing from any A2LA or NVLAP accredited test lab. Qwest and Bellsouth generally only require the lab to be an independent lab. Also be aware that some labs may sub-contract work to other labs, so even if you think your product will be tested on the west coast it may get shipped somewhere else (so check with the lab). If you have fiber interfaces you should also look at the Fiber optic requirements on the Verizon site. This is the FOC program. You also need to look at the AT&T (formerly SBC) website for their NEBS requirements, they are found mostly in TP76200. But you are also expected to conform to the other TP's if they apply. The website is https://ebiznet.sbc.com/sbcnebs/. TP76200 was updated on July 31, 2006 to address the new GR-1089 and new GR-63 as well as make other changes. Lastly you need to review the TCG (Telecommunications Carrier Group) checklist document that can be found on either of these websites. It will detail the NEBS requirements of AT&T, Verizon, Bellsouth, Qwest. Note that there may be information on the Verizon or AT&T website that supersedes the TGC checklist. Lastly, to learn more about this, you might consider attending the annual NEBS conference hosted by Verizon. Details are on the Verizon website. The next one is in October in Arlington, VA. Most of the test labs have representatives there who can assist you. Also, has anybody had any issues with importing evaluation units to the US to be tested at a test lab? Do people usually mail the equipment to the test lab first so that it can clear US customs and then fly in to be available for the tests? Or is it possible to travel with the equipment and have US Customs clear it at the border? I was also wondering what requirements are needed for evaluation units at customer sites?
