Grace,

Under the R&TTE Directive a legally recognized laboratory in the USA is a
Certified Assessment Body (CAB) and in the EU it is a Notified Body.

Dear Members,

Can someone help me to interprete "a legally recognized laboratory"?  This
term was found from the "INTRODUCTION TO THE R&TTE DIRECTIVE" (
http://ec.europa.eu/enterprise/rtte/intr.htm), under "Introduction of
manufacturers' declaration of conformity" of "The main changes which this
Directive brings, compared to the old regimes, are:"

I believe most of well-known laboratories are legally recognized
laboratories.  Does "a legally recognized laboratory" mean (in the US) a
laboratory that is accredited by A2LA and/or NIST NVLAP plus some
addtitional requirement(s)?

Also, does anyone know any good training courses and/or seminars (hosted by
regulatory agencies are preferred, in English) that focus on the R&TTE?

Any comments are welcome!

Thank you in advance for your input.

Best regards,
