Hr. Loerzer,

There are a number of standards that must be addressed:

For machinery safety, CSA Z432-04 must be met. This includes requirements for
control reliability and risk assessment. This standard calls out the use of
NFPA 79-02 for wire colours, nameplate data, controls identification and the
like.

>From the perspective of electrical safety, CSA C33.2 #14 covers the
construction of the control panels and must be met. This standard and NFPA 79
do not conflict, since they cover different aspects of the design.

In order for your product to be sold legally or used by your customer, it must
be either a) inspected and labelled by an accredited Inspection Body or b)
Certified by an accredited certification laboratory.

In the province of Ontario there are 5 companies that can do this for you. The
exact number varies in the other provinces. For more information feel free to
contact me directly.

Subject: Electrical Standards for Industrial Machinery in Canada

Hi All,

does anybody know the electrical standards (CSA?) for industrial machines in
Canada, Ottawa like IEC 60204-1, ANSI/NFPA 79?

Thanks in advance.

Mit freundlichen Grüßen
Yours sincerely
