Li-ion battery needs EN62133 approval in Europe. Unlike UL/CSA or other standards this calls for Over voltage charging test on the bare cell. Lot of times cells fail this test. So it is good to have have battery and cell certified to this EN standard in addition to product level standard like IEC/EN 60950/60065 Batteries have intelligent power management which controls of over charge/current etc parameters. For lithium batteries IEC60950/60065 only requires that the battery be protected against reverse charge and short circuits and there are some marking requirements, The standards donot specify that the battery have a separate approval. Of course you need to check the product standard your product would have to comply with to be sure.........There are IEC standards for lithium batteries but as far a as I know they are not mandatory...............Other approvals may exist but I have never seen a lithium battery with anything other then a UL/CSA/CE mark on them........... Just an FYI the C-tick mark is an Australian EMC Mark which would not be required for batteries which do not have built in electronics which need to be considered................ If I remember the saying “an ounce of test time tells a tonne of theory”(with respect to the author I hope I said it right). C-tick or another mark means there is third party data for your battery which is helpful. You didn’t say anything specific but this is my start plan when it comes to lithium batteries.
