Hi All,

I have posted this month's Technical Tidbit titled "Filtering Contact
Discharges - Part 2, High Pass Filtering (for troubleshooting or
simulation of ESD from small objects)."

The article describes a method to high pass filter contact discharges
>from an ESD simulator. This method is useful for troubleshooting ESD
problems in equipment or simulating discharges from relatively small
metal objects.

Abstract: High pass filtering of an ESD contact discharge can be used
for troubleshooting ESD problems with equipment or simulating ESD from
small metal objects in a repeatable way. A method is described for
constructing a simple coaxial capacitor to provide a high pass filter
that leaves just the initial peak of the hand-metal ESD waveform while
attenuating the low frequency components.

The link to my University of California Santa Barbara seminar to
benefit the University on November 1 is:

All proceeds from the seminar go to the University. Most of the
troubleshooting methods covered in the course are very effective and
not taught by anyone else, a great excuse to spend a day or two in
Santa Barbara.
