Dear List Persons, Today we had 19 members automatically deleted from the EMC-PSTC list. This deletion occurred because the mail systems for these 19 members have blocked receipt of emails from the IEEE Listserv. The IEEE servers apparently have ended up on one or more DNS Blacklists as sources of spam, thus the local email systems are rejecting list messages. Each rejected message adds to the error count for a specific list member address. When a sufficient number of errors are recorded, Listserv software automatically deletes the offending address.
We have been working on resolving this problem since it began in early September when 82 members were deleted. Since then, we have been monitoring up to 96 member addresses for errors being reported. Recent changes in list error check settings cut the error reports by one third (95 down to 65 per day). After today, I have contacted the Help Desk at IEEE and asked them to look into the DNS Blacklist problem. Meanwhile, I will look at restoring the the deleted members, perhaps by as early as tomorrow evening. Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience this may cause. And please pass this on to any members you may know that have been deleted. BFIF, they can re-subscribe without an admin having to do it for them (as two members already have). -- Best Regards, Scott Douglas EMC-PSTC Administrator email: [email protected] - This message is from the IEEE Product Safety Engineering Society emc-pstc discussion list.
