IMMEDIATE JOB OPENING IN WIRELESS R&D

RF System Design Engineer

Job Category:  Research and Development

Location: Santa Clara, CA; San Diego, CA; Plano, TX; Boston, MA

Number of Openings:  5

Description:
This is an excellent opportunity for Advanced Research in IF/RF Front
End Modules (FEMs) and Transceiver System Design for current 3G and
future xG wireless infrastructure product development. The successful
candidates will be expected to conduct advanced research in the areas
of:

* Linearization Techniques including innovative digital predistortion
algorithms with fast convergence and minimum memory requirements.
Developing correlation techniques for nonlinearity estimation and
non-linear modeling using behavioral modeling of PA characteristics and
the application of Power and Volterra Series.

* Efficiency Enhancement Techniques including Multiple-switched PAs to
minimize complexity; Doherty transmitters to minimize gain degradation,
intermodulation distortion (IMD), and effect of narrow bandwidth;
Envelope Elimination and Restoration (EER) transmitters to develop
effective envelope control mechanism; Envelope Tracking (ET)
configuration to enhance EVM performance based on gain variance
minimization; Chireix outphasing configuration with improved calibration
methods to minimize gain and phase degradation; Adaptive biasing scheme;
and other emerging techniques.

* System Design for a cost-effective integrated multi-standard
transceiver with small-form factor including multistage effects and
power combining techniques to meet performance specifications for higher
frequency operations, broader bandwidth applications, multi-carrier
configuration, and non-constant envelope modulation systems such as
OFDMA/MIMO wireless systems.

Responsibilities/Requirements:
* B.Sc, M.Sc. degree (Ph.D. preferred) in Electrical Engineering,
Physics, or Telecommunications with 5+ years of experience in wireless
communications and solid foundation in RF theory and Circuit analysis.

* Experience in several of the following areas is required: GSM, CDMA,
WCDMA, WiMAX (OFDMA-MIMO), RF channel modeling, PA device technology,
PA performance analysis (EVM, ACLR, PCDE, PAE, PAPR etc.), design
procedure for power amplifiers with requirements for high linearity
combined with an optimum efficiency. Experience with RF Simulation, C,
C++, MatLab, ADS, CAD, EM simulator or other time domain or event driven
simulation tools is desired.

* Must have strong analytical skills with strong design background in a
wide range of circuit functions for RFIC, such as RF circuits (PA, RF
PGA, LNA, Modulators, Mixer, etc.); Frequency synthesizer (Crystal
Oscillators, PLL, frequency/phase compensation algorithms, etc.); Analog
circuits (Filter techniques, ADC/DAC, etc.); and AGC.

* May require some traveling to support customers
