The EU trash bin symbol is not effectieve in Japan, and as far as I know, no such symbol would be required for EEE in general. Even without symbol similar to trash bin symbol in EU, manufactures may be required to correct and reuse/recycle certain category of waste household appliances as specified in the household appliance recyle law. Please note that packages may required to be marked in certain situations as specified in the package recycle law.
