I cannot determine if the requirement for "identification" or "tracibility", as per the context of the EMC and LV directives, pertains to use for a recall, or just so the mfr is known.
Does anyone have the actual requirement, in either directive, for marking with a batch or serial for the purpose of recall ? This is what I have found for the LVD : 170. Section III 171. Information Requirements 172. 173. (a) Equipment shall be identified either by means of type, batch, serial number or any other information allowing for the identification of the product and for the traceability of the manufacturer. This shall be marked legibly and indelibly on the equipment or, if this is not possible, in the accompanying instructions for use.
