All, There will be a Northeast Product Safety Society / CNEC Product Safety Engineering Society meeting on Wednesday, April 25th, at The Holiday Inn, Boxborough MA. A social networking with light refreshments will begin at 7:00 PM and the technical meeting will start at 7:30 PM. Steve Brody, Brooks Automation Senior EHS Product Engineer, will present this month’s topic concerning on how one firm has implemented China RoHS. If you will be in the area, please feel free to join us as there is no charge and advanced notice or membership in NPSS or IEEE PSES is not required.
Steve is currently the Senior EHS Product Engineer at Brooks Automation in Chelmsford, Massachusetts. In this position he leads the Corporate Green Initiatives Steering Committee, the Material Declarations Core Team, and the EU WEEE Registration Team. Steve and his teams provide direction and guidance to the Corporation to bring about an orderly and rationale approach to worldwide RoHS compliance where the largest driver is the customer. He has been working in Compliance and Regulatory Engineering and Standards for over 30 years and has held similar positions with Thermo Fisher Scientific, Symbol Technologies and Wang Laboratories. He is President of the Northeast Product Safety Society, an IEEE Member, and a member of the Central New England Chapter of the IEEE Product Safety Engineering Society. Steve has an Associate Degree in Electrical Engineering Technology from Lowell Technological Institute and a BS Degree in Technical Management from Southern New Hampshire University. Steve’s presentation was originally given at SEMICON China 2007 as part the Semiconductor Industry China RoHS Workshop this provides a pragmatic approach that can be used at any company and deals with the real world application of the Chinese Phase 1 requirements. The workshop included speakers from China's MII and Intel and Steve will also discuss some of the comments and information provided by them. Other topics to be covered include the Joint Industrial Guide and their JIG-101 document and the status of current and proposed environmental legislation and initiatives worldwide.
