Moshe, I agree with Peter - the first question to answer is the construction of the eyewear. If they are coated, the only way to tell if their protective capability has been compromised would be to test them. Unless it is particularly expensive eyewear, i.e. more than $150/ pair, this is probably not worth the cost and effort.
If the eyewear is the more common moulded type, where the full thickness of the lens is the filter material, then light scratches are not likely to a problem unless they obscure the wearer's vision. If you are unsure, replace the eyewear. For more help with this, try contacting the manufacturer of the eyewear.
