The requirements for safety testing and certification will depend on the
product type. Some products, such as medical products, may require safety
testing regardless of the input supply. Does your product have hazardous
voltages, currents or energy levels? Are there hazardous moving parts? A
paper shredder would need safety testing even if it is powered from an
approved supply. Does the product connect to telephone networks?

If your product embodies hazards that are covered in IEC/EN/UL 60950-1, it
will need to be properly tested. Even if it doesn't have hazards covered
in this standard, you may not be exempt from testing.

Dear All,
We plan to sell an ITE bundled with 110 / 230 Volts A.C. to 5.0 volts
D.C. adapter. The power adapter is a bought out part and is CB certified
for safety. Is it mandatory that the combined setup (ITE powered by the
adapter) to be tested / certified for safety? The product will be sold in
US & Europe. We plan 3 different make power adapters to be bundled with our
ITE device and all the 3 are CB certified for safety.

Sincerely

K.Balasubramanian
