All, We are in the process of designing a number of items of special-to-type test equipment that will form a service kit for our customer's field engineers (we supply a sub-system to an OEM). I would like to understand what is considered normal practice throughout North America with regard to this type of equipment. Many of the items are passive items such as breakout boxes to facilitate access to interface cables. Others have wall-wart or lump-in-a-cord power suppplies that already have appropriate agency approvals. What would US/CAN manufacturers do about safety of items such as this? Would you go as far as listing (numbers could be >100 kits), or would you use field inspection, or would you consider that neither of these is necessary for this type of item? Best regards
