Pete, It's still the Machinery Directive you need to be concerned with. The relevant standard is EN 746 - industrial thermoprocessing.
If you are worried about the Gas Appliances Directive, note that this does not apply to process heating equipment. Exclusion from the ATEX Directive is less clear cut but generally speaking industrial heating equipment is excluded - see http://www.conformance.co.uk/directives/ce_atex_fuel.php for more details.
