Kent Pengelly, Manager Special Investigations with CSA Group, is our
keynote speaker. In today’s global marketplace, the push for ISO 9000
quality registrations in the 1990s has been replaced with a push for
availability of low-cost consumer, commercial and industrial products.
Quality and safety of products can no longer be taken for granted (even
when the product bears a certification mark or a recognized
manufacturer’s trademark). The advent of counterfeit products and
production within the world’s emerging economies has placed the onus on
the importer and distributor to perform their own incoming quality
control checks as a back-up to the manufacturing facilities. Importers
and distributors are now faced with an ever-growing challenge to verify
that products meet their expectations with respect to performance and
safety and are actually from the companies whose trade name is on the
product.

Additional information about our keynote speakers and his presentation
is available at http://www.nepss.org.
