Yes, It‘s been a while. I fully understand the CE view of EMC compliance. It is my management who does not understand it. We would like to CE mark this product but for the interface which is compliant. Legalistically speaking, if that product fails the ESD testing from EN55024, then it fails to comply with the essential requirements of the EMC directive. It should not matter what interfaces are integrated into it. If either/both ports are exposed, it’s reasonable for that/those ports to be fully tested. If it does not fully comply, then the product should not be CE marked. And, how would the EU DofC be worded with a product that’s not completely compliant? Just asking. For reasonable ESD immunity, either adequate insulation or intended diversionary conduction path(s) would be needed. Since no details were given for your product, a suitable recommendation cannot be made except that I might suggest not ESD exposing the SD pads. Comments? One side is SD interface and other is USB. This device when used as USB drive which leaves SD pads open, fails ESD test per IEC61000-4-2. The failure is in SD side i.e. SD interface does not work after this test. Can we CE certify this product as SD INTERFACE? Will any warning /disclaimer saying that we do not meet CE for USB interface will help us on this. Or we will not be able to certify this as USB interface is a Digital device and hence it can not be put in European market without CE Any opinion/guidance will be really helpful.
