All,

Power Required dBW=Field required dBV/m - Antenna Gain - 14.77 + Cable Loss dB
+20*log(Distance [m])

add a bit for VSWR for ALL the interconnects.

If you are lucky the answer should be between 100 and 200 W but you will need
an antenna gain of 10dB or more at 1GHz

Subject: 200 v/m power needed

Morning all.

I'm trying to do a sanity check here determining how much power I need to
generate 200 v/m over a ground plane using the typical 1 to 18 DRWG horn
antenna.

ETS used to have a typical field strength Vs forward power chart on their
site: it seems to have gone. Does anyone have typical curves they can share?
Off line is fine.

Thanks, in advance,
