Electrical Engineer Reports To: Manager, Controls & Electrical Engineering Location: Hamilton, Ontario Compensation: A targeted base salary in the $85,000-$92,000 range and a comprehensive benefits package are provided. Final compensation will be dependent on the successful candidate’s background and experience level. The Company: Our client is one of the largest and most diversified companies in the world, working in areas such as energy, healthcare, industry, communications, transportation, and lighting. The Mandate: The Electrical Engineer will provide high quality technical support relating to all aspects of the controls, electrical and auxiliary systems design of gas and steam turbine engines in the service area. Deliverables will include drawing, specifications, engineering reports, engineering studies, project engineering, PLC programming and field and shop problem resolution for service programs. The successful candidate will need to: · Develop complex material specification, schematic preparation and follow-up to ensure proper and effective implementation. · Implement complex design, development, testing and modifications of solutions. · Guide explanations and clarifies information to enable proper interpretation and evaluation of complex specifications, performance characteristics or other technical data. · Guide communication of complex technical and commercial issues. · Develop recommendations for complex new designs, new processes, or design changes to meet requirements. · Perform advanced areas of work for the professional field. · Apply advanced skills to resolve complex problems not covered by existing procedures or practices independently. · Display a high level of critical thinking in bringing successful resolution to high-impact, complex, and/or cross-functional problems. Ideal Candidate: · Degree in electrical engineering or related discipline; certification may be required in some areas; advanced degree may be substituted for experience, where applicable. · 8 to 10 years of successful experience in a related field, combined with demonstration of key responsibilities is ideal. · Must be a member of the PEO or an engineer in training working towards the PEO designation. · WDPF, working with industrial gas turbines and Siemens S7 experience is preferred; candidates may still be considered otherwise. · PLC controls experience could include Honeywell, Emerson, Foxborough and/or Allen Bradley. · Extensive knowledge and skill gained through broad or deep experiences in a field(s) which require a command of either involved, diverse practices and precedents or scientific theory and principles or both. · Proven ability to understand and influence people. · Knowledge of relevant policies and precedents, legislative acts, guidelines and legal requirements. · Understanding of functions and how the functions align with and support the business and operational processes. · Proven success in demonstrating and applying comprehensive knowledge of field of specialization to the successful completion of complex assignments. · Advanced knowledge of concepts, practices and procedures of particular area of specialization. · Significant knowledge of organization's business practices and issues faced and contributes to problem resolution of those issues.
