Thank you Dave. Now, the third edition of IEC 60601-1 has new requirements for flammability (section 11.3) which are similar to those in old UL 60601-1, but they don't seem to be necessarily mandatory:
"This subclause provides an alternative means of compliance with selected HAZARDOUS SITUATIONS and fault conditions as identified in 13.1.2. In doing so, the following constructional requirements shall be met or specifically analyzed in the RISK MANAGEMENT FILE and if not met, specific justification shall also be given. " So, if ANSI/AAMI 60601-1 does not add anything to the IEC standard, does it mean we will not have to care about plastic materials flammability in ME equipment, provided a specific justification will be given in the risk management file?
