Hello Chris,

IEC 60320 has a few tests covering mating cycles.  Section 19 covers the
breaking capacity and it requires 50 mating and disconnection cycles in
quick succession at 1.25 times the rated current of the receptacle at 275
V.  Section 20 requires 1000 mating and breaking cycles at 250 V and full
current followed by another 3000 mating and breaking cycles without
current.  The connectors must complete the test with no damage or wear that
would impair normal use.

Does anyone know if the standard specifies the number of mating cycles
the connector pair must be capable of before any degradation in contact
performance occurs?

Would also be interested if anyone has come across a C13 (female
connector) intended for frequent use, as it is this half of the
connector pair which fails due to deformation of the contacts.
