Hello Brian,

Have you looked at the calibration certificates for your existing equipment? 
Just because it's specified for only ±2% doesn't mean that the actual
equipment doesn't read any better than that.  The data from the calibration
will show the actual accuracy of the readings.  If it was within 1% for two
subsequent calibrations, you should be able to state that the specific unit
checked is within 1% and can be used to meet the agency requirements.  If you
need to meet a tight requirement such as 0.5%, you will likely want more
frequent calibrations, or at least regular in-house verification.

Very interesting.

DMMs are commonly available to measure up to 1000 V DC with accuracies of 0.1%
or better.

However, DMM probes for voltages greater than 1000 V DC are typically 2%
accuracy.  (Oscilloscope HV probes are MUCH better!)

However (again), the Fluke 80K-6 will give you 1% with a 0.25% DMM!
