While those are evocative demos for beginner technicians and freshmen,
they will go far over the heads of a lay audience, i.e. lawyers, doctors
and priests. (;-) You would have to explain 'quieting' (very difficult
indeed!), 'harmonics' and 'spectrum'.
You have to start with something that is not too far outside their
experience. For that reason, AM radio is better than HF ('short wave')
radio, because many will not have even heard of it before.
