The HCP also has a standard required  870 kohm resistance in I would connect
to a more representative earth reference. Wouldn’t the additional ground
reference lead length be more representative of the field wiring anyway?

Hi Ian,

I would argue that the only purpose of the HCP is for injecting noise into
your EUT. I would consider it an error to hook any grounds to this. I await
correction :-)

Forum members,

 

 

We are  testing a product which is made of metal and due to the size of it l
have a table top test set up very similar to that shown in Figure 4 of the
standard EN61000-4-2:2009.

 

The unit is sitting on insulation 0.5mm thick on the horizontal coupling
reference plane.

 

In service this product sits in a steam line and has hardwired earths
connected to earth for functional reasons,  I have connected these earths to
the horizontal coupling plane, is this correct ? The standard does not appear
to give any guidance on this matter, but it seems the only logical solution.
