I am looking for guidance on the failure criterion for the Automotive directive 
2004/104/EC.  We have a small device that falls under the immunity related 
functions description in the directive.  The issue is the vehicular transients 
described in ISO 7637-2.  The requirements of the directive are functional 
status B or C for devices with immunity related functions.  I don’t see how we 
can meet these.  Per 7637-2, functional status C means the device automatically 
returns to normal operation when the interference is removed.  For test pulses 
1(with a 200 ms dropout) and 2b(end at 0 VDC) that is just not possible for 
us.  

 
How many devices are able to recover from a 200ms power drop?  Even if we 
could, 
we would not return to normal operation, because automatically restarting is a 
safety issue.
 
So I am looking for input as to how anyone can meet these requirements.
