Ah, misread the post. You can't convert A/m2 to A/m. = A/m2, current density 
conversion to field strength, is complex. It is worked out for the human body 
in the ICNIRP guidelines.

Don't confuse A2/m2 with A/m or A/m2. The A2/m2 units were used on analog 

magnetic field meter readouts since the sensor was a square-law responding 

device and the meter scale would be linear in FSU2 (field strength units 

squared).

 

As previously mentioned:

 

1. A2/m2 is just the square of A/m; both relate to magnetic field strength 

(H).

2. A/m2 is a current density, typically 'J,' which doesn't simply relate to 

magnetic field strength, 'H,' in A/m.

3. 'B,' magnetic flux density, is equal to u [mu] x H where mu is the 

permeability of the medium. In the case of air, water, vacuum, people, etc 

(most everything but ferrous materials), the value of mu is 4 x Pi x 

10exp(-7), [four Pi times ten to the minus 7] which is about 1/800,000. If 

the units of H are amperes per meter, the units of B are teslas (one tesla 

is approximately 800,000 amperes per meter).
