Derek,

This doesn't help you, but it may help others in the UK, I'm sure many of you
know this, but...

I have FREE online, read only, access to all (I think all) British Standards,
including BS CISPR versions via my public library membership. I'm with
Hampshire libraries, I don't know how widely this service is available in other
counties. From any Internet-connected PC, I log onto the libraries' online
services using my membership number and follow their link to BSonline where I
can search and read all standards. At the library itself, you can print
“permitted portions” of standards.

There is of course a caveat. Access is 'view only' for non-commercial research
or private study. I have legitimate access to all the standards I usually need
for commercial purposes, but the library service regularly proves useful.

Email me if you need more details.

Regards,
Tony

Hi Ralph,

I have made many attempts to be a standards contributor: some like RTCA have
been very receptive. Others, like just about every European and ANSI committee
have not even returned an email. A couple of phone calls faired no better.

Hardly surprising I take delight in lambasting poorly written documents, or
documents with an agenda.

I too agree, that any document requiring compliance with by law, should be free.

I was just looking into the cost of buying all CISPR 16 documents, over $3,000
US. Paper as valuable as diamonds!

Ridiculous.

My 10 cents worth.

<quote> Standards documents are circulated in order to get comments from as
wide an audience as possible. The DPC stage occurs during drafting in national,
European and international arenas and is an important part of the standards
development process <unquote>

I don't believe BSI will capture the widest possible audience if those
interested need to purchase a DPC document. I think these should be free
downloads.
