It seems that you are describing equipment to controll a process.
The traditional UL standard 508c could apply and the MD/60204 could be
used for Euro/Intl units.
A simpler approach might be to use IEC 61010 process control to cover
the basic unit and add appropriate MD specific standards as needed. This
would be a broader coverage approach from the bottom up.
IEC TC 66 is working to identify the additional requirements needed to
include 61010 in the MD list. Your local committee member would have the
issues discussed to this point and probably know where this is going; even
with this ongoing project the list would be helpful in identifying issues that
are not adequately covered by 61010 at this point in time.
