The other brand does not. This happens before the intended approach to smack the victim. And it happens again after the intended discharge, when the switch is released to the open position. Details for detecting these fields is left as an exercise for the curious. It is quite simple, and very illuminating! 8-) Calibrations must be a challenge since closing the switch is likely to trigger the 'scope, as well as opening the switch. We use 2 people - one operating the gun, one operating the 'scope, so we can capture the waveform.
