The usual answer... it depends! I assume your unit is a recognized component or equivalent. If you change a component that is among the "safety-critical" components, then you must re-submit the R/C. I assume the end item is a fully certified unit with a certification report that specifies the R/C. In this case, the end-item certification need not be changed as R/C = R/C. However, the courteous thing to do is to notify the end-item cert house of the change. Need more info to provide more details. (I may have totally mis-interpreted your question.)
